Communities and History

The Township of East Zorra-Tavistock was formed through the amalgamation of numerous communities, including: Braemar, Cassel, East Zorra, Hickson, Huntingford, Innerkip, Perry Mine, Perrys Lane, Strathallan, Tavistock, Tollgate, and Willow Lake. The three largest towns are Hickson, Innerkip and Tavistock.

Location

The Township of East Zorra-Tavistock is a lower-tier township in South Western Ontario. It is part of Oxford County and is situated above the City of Woodstock.

East Zorra-Tavistock is accessible by highway, air and railway. The settled areas are a short drive from Highway 401, 402 and 403.

East Zorra-Tavistock is located near several airports, including the Region of Waterloo Airport, Hamilton International Airport, London International Airport and Toronto Pearson International Airport.

The Township also has access to the Canadian Pacific and Canadian National Rail Line.

Canada Day Closure Notice

The Township Administration Building will be closed on Wednesday July 1, 2026. The office will re-open on Thursday July 2, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. for regular business hours.

We wish everyone a safe and happy Canada Day!

The Tavistock Memorial Hall will remain open as a cooling center from 7:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. on July 1, 2026.

Looking for other ways to beat the heat? The Spray pad at the Tavistock Queen’s Park is open daily from 9:00am to 9:00pm

Cooling Centre Open

Southwestern Public Health has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for our area. 

The Tavistock Memorial Hall (3 Adam Street, Tavistock) will be open to the public as a cooling centre daily from 7:30am to 4:30pm beginning Tuesday June 30th to Friday July 3rd.  

Looking for other ways to beat the heat? The Spray pad at the Tavistock Queen’s Park is open daily from 9:00am to 9:00pm.
