Participant Safety Requirements

To help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, we ask all skaters to review the following guidelines before participating in public skating:

CSA-approved hockey helmets are strongly recommended for all skaters and are mandatory for children eight years old and under. Children under eight must also be supervised by someone 14 years of age or older.

All skaters must wear skates to be on the ice. Please skate in the same direction as others at a safe and controlled speed. Backward skating is not permitted.

Respect staff at all times, and report any accidents or injuries immediately.

For everyone’s safety, the following are not allowed on the ice:

  • Carrying children, including in baby carriers
  • Hockey pucks and sticks
  • Sleds, strollers, or chairs
  • Unapproved skate aids

Only approved skate aids may be used during public skating sessions. Thank you for helping us keep the rink safe and welcoming for all.

Boil Water Advisory Issued for Tavistock

TAVISTOCK – Boil water advisory issued for William Street south of Wettlaufer Street

A boil water advisory has been issued by Southwestern Public Health for residents connected to the municipal water supply on William Street south of Wettlaufer Street in Tavistock.

Until further notice, Public Health advises residents to bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for drinking, making infant formula or juice, brushing teeth, washing raw foods or making ice.

This advisory is being issued as a precautionary measure in case of potential contamination following a water main break/pressure loss. Residents in this area were notified of the boil water advisory tonight and will be notified again when they can return to normal water use.

See the advisory on the Southwestern Public Health website at https://www.swpublichealth.ca/.../boil-water-advisory.../
