These appliances are commonly known as outdoor wood furnaces. They are permitted in rural and agricultural areas only. The installation of these appliances in urban areas such as Villages, Rural Clusters, Subdivisions and Settlement Areas is prohibited.
By-law #2009-18 regulates the use and location of Outdoor Solid Fuel Combustion Appliances.
A proper permit must be obtained from the Township prior to installation on your property.
The application form is available online. It is highly recommended that you review the provisions of the by-law and contact the Fire Chief or Chief Building Official before purchasing or installing one of these units.
