As part of our newly created Parks and Recreation department, and in keeping with the recommendations of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan, the Township of East Zorra-Tavistock is seeking members of the community to sit on the Recreation Advisory Committee (RAC). We are looking to fill six (6) volunteer positions, with two (2) members from each of our three electoral wards (Ward 1, Ward 2, Ward 3).

This Committee will help provide a voice and forum for recreational organizations, and community groups in East Zorra-Tavistock, as well as help identify recommendations regarding community parks, green space, trails, recreational facilities, and programming.

The preferred members will have an interest or experience in recreation and must be a resident of the Township. This will be a volunteer position with a minimum commitment to attend four (4) meetings a year. The meetings will be held in a rotating location within the Township and will be open to the public to attend.

To apply, applicants must submit a cover letter and resume, outlining why they would like to be considered as a member of this committee. Applications will be received until 4:30 pm on Friday January 27th, 2023 and must be sent to hr@ezt.ca

Parks and Recreation Master Plan Update

Posted on 06/13/2022
In consultation with Stantec Consulting, the Township has been working to create a strategic Parks and Recreation Master Plan. The Plan will be used to guide Council and staff in the strategic management and decision-making process for the future of parks, trails, recreation facilities, and programming within the Township.

To date, over 300 community members have provided their feedback regarding parks, trails, recreation facilities, and programming! Community feedback, in conjunction with the Background Review and Needs Assessment have led to the creation of Draft Strategies that will be the guiding pillars of the EZT Parks and Recreation Master Plan.

The Draft Strategies are now available for review on the project website.
