Half Load Season 2025

Posted on 02/27/2025
A reminder that half load season restrictions take effect Saturday March 1st. Restrictions are in place from March 1st to April 30th each year. During this time most vehicles are restricted to 5 tonnes per axle. Fuel and feed trucks are limited to 7.5 tonnes per axle and milk trucks are exempt.

Seasonal load restrictions are put into place to help protect our roads from damage during the spring when the winter’s frost is thawing, and the snow melt and rain have saturated the road base material. Equipment exceeding the weight restriction can cause extensive damage to the roads, resulting in very high maintenance and repair costs.

Please help us keep our roads safe for all vehicles driving on them.

Significant Weather Event Declaration - February 17, 2025

Posted on 02/17/2025
SIGNIFICANT WEATHER EVENT DECLARATION
(pursuant to Section16.9 of Ontario Regulation 239/02, as amended)

The Township is declaring a Significant Weather Event in response the ongoing winter storm.
This means that we’re working hard to clear snow, but the severe conditions are making it difficult to maintain roads and sidewalks to the minimum standards set out by the Province of Ontario (O. Reg 239/02).

We may be required to plow high volume roads multiple times before being able to address lower traffic routes, subdivisions and sidewalks. We’re asking residents to postpone any non-essential travel and to use extreme caution if you must leave your house.

Providing for the safety of the travelling public throughout the Township is a responsibility that our staff take very seriously. We appreciate your patience and understanding as staff complete their work.

The public is asked not to park on Township streets while plowing activities are being performed, and to refrain from depositing snow on municipal roadways or sidewalks.

The declaration will be lifted when we can once again meet the minimum standards for snow clearing. Stay tuned to this page and our website for further updates.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada
