Council Meeting Highlights - November 1, 2023
Catch up with what happened at last weeks East Zorra-Tavistock Council Meeting with a quick read of the meeting highlights below.
During the Meeting
- Rural Oxford Economic Development Corporation provided their July-September 2023 Activity Report to Council
- Council received a report from Oxford County Council for the Organics Feasibility Study to explore Organics Collection in the County in the coming years.
- Council reviewed the correspondence from the County of Oxford regarding the Public Consultation Centre in Tavistock for the William Street Sanitary Pumping Station. The Public Consultation Centre has been postponed by Oxford County until early 2024.
- Oxford County Community Planning presented to Council regarding new service agreements between the County of Oxford and the Upper Thames Conservation Authority, and the Grand River Conservation Authority. Council supported Oxford County proceeding with the memorandums of understanding with both conservation authorities.
- Staff presented amendments and updates to the Municipal Alcohol Policy to Council for their consideration and approval. Council approved a resolution to amend the policy based on the recommended updates.
- Tom Lightfoot, Public Works Manager, reported to Council on the results from various Dust Suppression Techniques which were tested on numerous gravel roads in the Township. The experimenting with various techniques and products was very intensive, and some best practices were uncovered. Testing is planned to continue in 2024.
- Under unfinished business, Councillor Scott Rudy led discussion on potential future capital building projects in the Township. An opportunity will be dedicated at a future meeting for Council to continue to discuss this matter.

The next regularly scheduled East Zorra-Tavistock Council Meeting is set for Wednesday November 15 , 2023 at 7:00pm.
